President’s Report – Royal Canadian Legion, Pioneer Branch 117 |
The Royal Canadian Legion, Pioneer Branch 117, continues to grow as a hub for our community. Weekly, we host our popular Wednesday night euchre and our Friday night jam sessions, which bring together musicians and music lovers alike. We also have exciting special events on the horizon, including our annual Witches Walk and Halloween party at the end of October. As we look toward the Remembrance Day season, preparations will soon begin. We are expecting the poppies to arrive near the end of September, at which point we will begin stuffing envelopes for the mail-out and organizing poppy boxes. This year, we are pleased to welcome new canvassers to our team, and we will be involving the local cadets for one day of the campaign to help with distribution and community engagement. Looking ahead, the Branch is committed to a long-term building improvement plan. Phase one focuses on accessibility upgrades, including washroom renovations and a new wheelchair ramp. Phase two will address interior updates—new floors, doors, and windows—while phase three will see repairs to the roof and potentially the basement. This is a 3–5 year plan, with timelines dependent on contractor availability and securing multiple quotes to support our grant applications. Respectfully submitted, Kelsey Quesnelle President, Royal Canadian Legion, Pioneer Branch 117 |
